Pusey House Library & Archive
The Library
Dr Pusey's personal library, bought after his death, originally formed the heart of Pusey House Library. Since then, we have expanded with the latest theological scholarship, and we now hold over 75,000 volumes.
Our main specialism is the Oxford Movement and its associated Anglo-Catholic tradition, but we also have extensive holdings in patristics, liturgy, doctrinal theology and broader Church history. |
Explore our Collections
- SOLO: SOLO is the online catalogue for most of the academic libraries in Oxford. Details of thousands of Pusey House's modern books can be found here, and more are being added regularly. You can narrow your search to Pusey House in the drop-down menu next to the search bar.
- Pusey Books: This is a scan of the original Pusey House card catalogue, covering every book we acquired before 2015, including those that aren't yet on SOLO.
- Nineteenth-Century Pamphlets at Pusey House: This is a useful introduction to our rare and controversial pamphlets. At the moment, the main catalogue for the pamphlet collection is a physical card catalogue in the reading room.
- ABTAPL Journals List: The journals we currently purchase are listed on SOLO, but for details of our full journal collection (including older/non-current publications), the ABTAPL catalogue is the best place to search. Use the search bar or the alphabetical links at the bottom of the homepage to find a journal title, then check for the letters 'PHL' (Pusey House Library) next to that title.
The Library is open 9:30-17:25, Monday to Friday. Find out more about visiting us.
For those studying remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic, we're happy to provide free scans from our collections (copyright permitting). Please make a request via our LibGuide.
