Biography
The Tsar Nicholas II Men's Choir is based primarily in New York City, though its members live all over the world. The group is dedicated to performing Russian sacred and secular music. The ensemble is the direct inheritor of the religious and cultural traditions of the white emigres following the 1917 Bolshevik Revolution. Most members of the choir are of Russian, Ukrainian, or Belorussian descent. All members are Russian Orthodox, most speak Russian, and hold Russian culture and music dear to their hearts. The choir therefore views as its mission the preservation of old Russian traditions, and the maintenance of newer ones developed outside of Russia throughout the 20th and 21st centuries.
Programme
The Tsar Nicholas II Male Voice Choir of New York will present a concert on Friday 25th October of 20th Century Russian Orthodox choral music. It will begin with a lecture in the Chapel at 7pm, followed by the concert at 7.45pm.
