Biography
Australian soprano Joelene Griffith made her operatic debut in 2013 with Pacific Opera as Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), going on to perform leading roles including Amina (La sonnambula), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), and the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte).
In 2017, she relocated to the United Kingdom to undertake a Master’s in Advanced Vocal Studies under the guidance of Dennis O’Neill. During this time, she made her debut as Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare) with Cardiff Opera.
Subsequent highlights include Violetta (La traviata) in London and North Wales, and appearances as a soloist in major concert works including Orff’s Carmina Burana, Handel’s Messiah, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Haydn’s Creation and Nelson Mass, and Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem.
Recent seasons have seen Joelene perform the title role in Norma with Bath Opera and Anna in Anna Bolena with Red Earth Opera, alongside a series of lute song recitals across the United Kingdom. In 2026, she appears with Welsh National Opera chorus, as well as in concert with Cardiff Bach Choir, The Gower Choral and Cardiff Polyphonic Choir.
English lute and guitar player Scott Baker studied music at RWCMD, graduating with an MMus in 2003. Since then, alongside a career in education, he has performed regularly with ensembles, bands, duos, as a soloist and in theatre. Recent years have been busy for Scott; playing for a production of 'Shakespeare in Love', performing with promising new early music ensemble, the Vale Consort, and gigging regularly as guitarist (and bass player) with established Welsh folk band, Allan yn y fan.
