About

Since Michaelmas Term 2024, Pusey House has hosted a lunchtime recital series at 1:10pm in the chapel each Tuesday during University term. Entry is free, however if you have enjoyed the concert, please do consider making a donation if you are able and willing to do so. We aim for this series to showcase a range of musical talent. Previous recital programmes are outlined above.

The chapel has a warm and intimate acoustic perfectly suited to chamber music. It houses a three manual English Romantic organ, and a mid-18th century Broadwood square-piano. The Broadwood is ideal Classical and early Romantic music, not only for solo piano works, but especially for accompanying. If you are interested in giving a concert as part of our lunchtime series, please contact us (see below).

Alongside the lunchtime recitals, the House regularly hosts external performers. The chapel is one of the most beautiful spaces in Oxford and can comfortably seat an audience of over one hundred and fifty. The large sanctuary area leaves plenty of room for a small orchestra and/or a large choir. There are rooms that adjoin the chapel that can be used as greenrooms or for hospitality. In recent years, Pusey House has hosted a number of ensembles such as the Delius Singers, Antiquum Documentum, Luceat, Sansara, vOx Chamber Choir, St Giles Orchestra, The Schola Cantorum of Oxford, Out of the Blue, and The Oxford Gargoyles. We would love to hear from you if you would be interested in hosting a concert at Pusey House. Please email music@puseyhouse.org.uk or fill out the contact form below for more details.
